History


In 1920 after a private investor bought a 2.26 mile track of land to use as a tourist resort, he named it Sunny Isles. Upon the completion of the Haulover bridge in 1926, the area became accessible to Miami Beach. This would go on to create a wave of investment and tourism opportunities for Sunny Isles. In 1997 the citizens of Sunny Isles voted to include it as a municipality and now Sunny Isles Beach is in the midst of heavy construction of condos and apartments.
