History


The city of Lantana was named after wild Lantana plants growing in the area. The town was founded by the Lyman family in 1888. They were responsible for the earlier developments such as a post office and a fishing company. The 1900's led the city into a new profitable industry of Oysters. The city only had 100 residents at the time of its incorporation. Buildings were beginning to pop up all around Lantana after World War II. After the construction of Interstate 95 came large commercial structures that helped the city blossom. With this increase in construction came more opportunities for potential residents to occupy Lantana rentals

Today Lantana is the home to 10,000 residents however; the winter months see an increase of about 4,000 residents trying to get away from harsh winters elsewhere.
